If you owned a Porsche, would you drive it without fuel?
Our bodies are our instrument and EVERYTHING that affects the body, impacts our instrument for good
or for ill... I have been teaching singing for a quarter century and I have seen tantrums and tears, because
on the "BIG DAY" of the jury, audition, competition, or the biggest performance of someone's life, they
call or email me in a panic because they woke up sick. I personally have experienced this and it is truly
tragic.
Many musicians, actors and dancers can perform while sick - maybe not at 100% but "Good Enough"
to get through the gig... Singers and Professional Speakers do not have this luxury. If we are sick with
any kind of virus or upper respiratory illness, we will either be out of commission, or we will attempt to
get through it and either bomb or worse; we might drive the virus into our voice and create vocal paresis:
a partial paralysis of one or both vocal folds, which takes voice therapy, or in some cases surgery(!), to
recover from.
Wouldn't it be easier and safer to simply learn how to AVOID these scenarios and receive some simple
ideas and options to prevent illness and optimize and power-up your performance? (YES!!!) I invite you
to check out our Event Page for "Nourish Your Voice," a free event that happens the FIRST MONDAY of
every month at 9:00 pm EST monthly via Conference Call and Facebook and "LIVE" at every TIS Event Weekend. For nutritional ideas visit:
